The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is an American [civil rights]? organization.

Founded as the American Negro Committee in 1909 by a multiracial group of activists, the NAACP was one of the leading organizations involved in the civil rights struggle of the 1960s and 70s.

The current president of the organisation is Kweisi Mfume.
