Largest international airport in Europe, second largest airport in the world (after Chicago). The first concrete slab of the first runway was ceremonial placed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953[?]. To the south-west of London, United Kingdom.

Heathrow presently has four terminals, and a debate is under way as to the desirability or otherwise of the construction of a fifth.

Heathrow is accessible via the nearby M4 motorway?, by the London Underground [Piccadilly Line]?, and the newly constructed [Heathrow Express]? (which is considerably quicker and proportionately more expensive) which goes direct to London's Paddington? station.
