The summer palace of the emperors, Schonnbrunn, was built to rival Versailles but while huge and ornate, never quite became as large. The Cathedral of St Stephen or the Stephansdom?, which was built in the 12th century, is also notable. The modern architect Hundertwasser? has constructed many buildings in the city in his idiosyncratic style. |
