Roxy Music were founded in the early 1970s as a collaborative project between [Bryan Ferry]? and Brian Eno. An early hit single [/Virginia Plain]?, which reached number 1 in the British charts, was to be cathartic within the somewhat moribund British music industry scene at the time, and their significant influence is still felt today. Brian Eno left after a few years to develop a successful solo career. Bryan Ferry is also noted as a solo performer, usually of lounge-lizard style ballads, an art-form which he seems to have made his own in recent times. The band also fostered the early career of [Phil Manzanera]?.
