Roger the Dodger was a character in a strip cartoon of the same name which appeared in the comic-book, the Beano. Roger's basic remit was to avoid doing chores such as homework, and this would involve him inevitably in complex and ultimately disastrous plans, the undoing of which would result in him being punished.
