Well, the new page is going to be good, what ever it may be.
French, 'outdoors' or 'outside', applied to painting outside. Though artists have always sketched and studied outside - landscape sketches survive from Albrecht Duerer and many Italian renaissance artists, many 19th century artists began working outside as a way of overcoming the constraints of work in the studio from sketches.
