The city of Kolberg , earlier Colberg is in Pomerania , north east of Stettin /Sczezcin. It was considered the capital of Cassubia ,Kassubia , Kaschuben, a group of Slavic people called Wends, who came into Magna Germania by 1000 AD. In 1120 duke Casimir of Poland tried to conquer Pomerania, but was repelled . There were earlier attempts of dukes or kings of Poland to conquer lands to the north of them, which had not succeeded.
