Charlemagne removed pagan Saxons from east Jutland Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg areas at the Baltic Sea and moved Abodrites, Obotrites (Wendish Slavs), who pledged allegiance to Charlemagne, and who had for the most part converted to Christianity, into the area instead.
