Albrecht Duerer was born in Nuremberg in 1471. His father Albrecht Duerer, the Elder, had limited means. A well to do German printer named [Willibald Pirckheimer]?, became his godfather and his lifelong closest friend. Duerer learned from [Michael Wolgemut]? how to paint and how to do [wood carving]? and [copper engraving]?. Besides painting many famous people of the day, starting with [Maximilian l]? of the Holy Roman Empire, and crafting altar pieces, Duerer also was active in mathematics and geometry for the city of Nuremberg.
