Whisky/Canadian

Canadian whisky is blended? multi-grain whisky. It is called [rye whisky]? although it contains proprietary blends of corn, barley?, and rye?. It must be aged at least three years in the barrel. Well-known names include Seagram's, Hiram Walker, Canadian Club, and Crown Royal.

Canadian whisky featured prominently in illegal imports into the US during Prohibition in the 1920s. Hiram Walker and Seagram's have distilleries on the Detroit River across the Detroit, Michigan that easily served small, fast smuggling boats. The long mainly unpatrolled US-Canadian border made smuggler fairly easy.
