Showing revision 10
Language spoken in Sweden and Finland. One of the Germanic languages.

The Swedish Academy maintains an official definition of the language.

Swedish is closely related and mutually intelligible with Danish and Norwegian. With respect to inflection, there are five different kinds of nouns, and four different kinds of verbs.

The Swedish spoken in Finland, "Finlandssvenska", differs from the Swedish "rikssvenska" mostly in pronunciation.
