Americans, visit, or call, your local American Red Cross, or [blood bank]?, to [donate blood]?. As of September 12, you will probably have to make an appointment for next week.

Check with your local Red Cross and/or your local newspaper. Some emergency collection sites have been set up. The Burlington (Vermont) Free Press reported Thursday morning that the Red Cross in Burlington had processed nearly 1600 pints in the past two days. 500 donors were reportedly turned away and waits of up to 6 hours were reported. Vermont Public Radio reports that the Red Cross is asking donors to space out donations over the next week.
