Old Norse language

Old Norse was the Germanic language spoken by the Vikings. Its modern descendants are Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Of these, Icelandic has changed the least from Old Norse in the last thousand years. Old Norse also had an influence on English dialects, particularly Scots which contains many Old Norse loan words.
