The Germanic language spoken by the Vikings. Its modern descendants are Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. Of the four, Icelandic has changed the least from Old Norse in the last thousand years. It also had an influence on English dialects, particularly Scots which contains many Old Norse loan words.
