Middle Earth

Ficticious land created by J. R. R. Tolkien where the action of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings takes place. Tolkien wrote extensively about the mythology/history of the land, and many of those writing have been edited and posthumously published by his son, most notably The Silmarillion.

The term "Middle Earth" is almost certainly Tolkien's rendering of the term "Midgard" or "Middengeard?" found in old Norse and [Germanic literature]?.
