Konstantin Eduardovitch Tsiolkovsky (September 17 1857 - September 19 1935)

Born in Ijevskoe?, Russia.

Pioneer of astronautics?. He theorized many aspects of space travel and rocket propulsion. Considered the father of human space flight. First to concieve of a space elevator.

His work influenced later rocketeers throughout Europe. His work was also studied by the Americans in the 1950s and 1960s as they sought to understand the Soviet Union's early successes in space flight.

He died in Kaluga?.
