Justinian I, Byzantine emperor (A.D. 527-565), born Petrus Sabbatius in 482.

Justinian I was born in a small village called Tauresina in the Balkan peninsula. His uncle [Justin I]?, who rose from the ranks of the army to become emperor, adopted Justinian as his son and ensured that he was educated.
