Green is the
colour seen commonly in nature. Many
plants are green because they contain
chlorophyll. In
English, there is a distinction made
between
blue and
green, but some
languages don't have a separate word for green.
Green light has a wavelength of around 550 nm. If your browser supports colour display, the following patch should be green:
- The [ecology movement]? uses green because of its common occurrence in nature.
- Greenpeace, an ecological group, uses green because of its association with life.
- Envy?, one of the traditional Seven Deadly Sins is also called the Green-eyed monster.
- Traditionally, someone who works well with plants is said to have a green thumb, or green fingers.
- There are political parties named the Greens around the world, particularly in Europe.
