The Harbour Bridge is one of the major land marks of
Sydney. It links the city's centre with the North Shore. Construction began in 1924 and when the bridge was opened on 19th March 1932, it was the largest single-arch bridge in the world. The arch span is 503 metres and the weight of the arch is 39,000 tons. The summit is 134m above mean sea level. It carries 8 lanes of traffic 2 railway lines, a bike and a foot path.
