The Cardinal of the Kremlin is a sequel of sorts to The Hunt For Red October, based around the development of the [Strategic Defence Initiative]? and its Soviet equivalent, covering themes including intelligence gathering and counterintelligence, political intrigue, and guerilla warfare in Afghanistan.
