Homer. With few exceptions, Marge spends most of her time tending to housework, minding
Maggie, being supportive of
Lisa, and either disciplining
Bart or defending him from Homer's rage. Marge briefly held a position as police officer, in spite of her general dislike of guns; her sisters include the old maids
Patty and
Selma. Marge, in spite of her reputation as a stereotypical cartoon mother, has had her share of escapades, many of which have earned her the moral aprobation of Springfield's less forgiving residents. A gambling addiction, a predilection for alcoholic beverages, and a memorable cross country police chase (a la [Thelma and Louise]
? ) are just some of the situations that suggest that this facinating, yet enigmatic woman is something more than just another pretty blue-head.
Marge's maiden name is Bouvier, which also happens to be the maiden name of former First Lady [Jacqueline Kennedy]?.
