nomenclature question - aren't they more typically called the "Successor Kingdoms" in English? Maybe 'Empire' is common for the Ptolemies, but I'm fairly sure the Seleucids are usually called a "Kingdom." --MichaelTinkler
My historical reference does not use the term "Successor Kingdom" anywhere, and consistently refers to the Seleucid organization as an Empire. Needless to say, other perspectives are welcomed. By the way, if someone would help me get the cross-references right I sure would appreciate it. I am having frustration with the Ptolemiac dynasty link; it goes to <http://www.wikipedia.com/wiki.cgi?Ptolemiac_dynasty>; when it should be going to the node that exists, <http://www.wikipedia.com/wiki/Ptolemaic_dynasty>;. -- Branden
I believe the correct spelling is Ptolemaic...
Oh gar, of course you're correct. One little typo cut and pasted brings down mountains. I'll go through and try to clean up this mess. --Branden
This article needs to be deleted, hiding the shameful evidence of my inability to spell. How do I ask the admins to do this? I'll go read the FAQ now. --Branden
