Antigonus I Monophthalmos ("the One-eyed") was a Macedonian nobleman, general, and governor under
Alexander the Great, after whose death in 323 B.C. established himself and his family as one of the successor dynasties. His son Demetrius I Poliorcetes took control of
Macedonia, which the family held, off and on, until Macedonia was conquered by the
Roman Republic at the [Battle of Pydna]
