This page is an unfaithful translation of the LangueFrancaise page intended for the french-challenged crowd. One of the RomanceLanguages, spoken by more than 100 Millions people in several countries outside of France, and official or administrative language in various communities and organizations (such as CEE, CIO, ...).

Although many frenchmen like to refer to themselves as descending from gallic ancestors ("Nos ancÍtres les gaulois"), very few celtic and gallic roots seems to remain in today french. Most of the vocabulary is of latin and germanic (frank) origin.
