He used the byname Der Führer (German: The Leader). He was the leader of the NationalSocialist? (NaZi?) Party (from 1920/21) and dictator of GermanY (1933-45). Officially chancellor (Kanzler) from Jan. 30, 1933, and, after President Paul von Hindenburg's death, he assumed the twin titles of Führer and chancellor (Aug. 2, 1934).
Hitler's father, Alois (born 1837), was illegitimate and for a time bore his mother's name, Schicklgruber, but by 1876 he had established his claim to the surname Hitler. Adolf never used any other name, and the name Schicklgruber was revived only by his political opponents in GermanY and AustriA in the 1930s.
AdolfHitler commited suicide together with his lady friend EvaBraun? on April 30th 1945 in his HQ in Berlin (GermanY). He appointed AdmiralDoenitz? as the next Führer.
