Universalism

Universalism, in Christian theology is the belief that all eventually will be saved?. According to universalism, all when they die go to heaven, although some forms of it allow a limited period of punishment for those deserving beforehand. While most Christian denominations have always rejected universalism, belief in it dates back to ancient times, including the theologian Origen among others.

Universalism first became popular in the 19th century, leading to the formation in the United States of the Universalist Church of America, which later merged in the 1960s with the Unitarian church to form the Unitarian Universalist Association.
