The Stems formed in Perth in the mid eighties and played music that was heavily influenced by sixties [garage rock]? and seventies [power pop]?. They released a number of singles on the Citadel label including "Tears Me In Two" before releasing and album on a major label.

(who would later go on to form DM3?) and Dave Shaw.
