A mechanical pre-cursor of the pocket calculator. For a long time the slide rule was the symbol of the engineer's profession in the same way that the stephoscope? symbolized the medical profession.
According to normal wikipedia naming conventions this should be at Slide rule. I've moved a copy over there. No more work should be done here, go there instead. This one can change into a redirect as soon as people are sure i didn't stuff up the new copy.
