Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland. Population 110 000. Founded in 874 by Ingolfur Arnarson, it and its 6 suburbs are now home to 3/5ths of Iceland's entire population. Reykjavik literally means "smokey bay". Reykjavik is the farthest north capital city in the world and receives only 4 hours of sunlight a day in the depth of winter
