Truth. Truth is the second requirement for knowledge. So not must you believe a proposition, in order to know it; it must also be true. Again, try this claim out for size -- see if you think this makes sense. "It's false that my watch is broken, but I know it is broken." Or how about this: "I know that high tide occurs at 2 pm today; but it's false that it does." That's just absurd! I doubt I need to dwell any longer on that point. So now let's look at our definition of knowledge so far. Here it is:
