Do a google search on dakini and you'll find more results using the word dakini in modern times as written in #3. The only actual way to expand #2 is to quote copyrighted material.
I did get a reply from a Professor of Asian Studies who is on sabbatical in Tibet now. He emailed "I consider Dakini to be ultimately of Indian origin, transmitted to Tibet. I'd recommend Miranda haw's <Passionate Enlightenment> for more. The Princeton series has a good book edited by David Gordon White, <Tantrism in Practice> -- another reliable source."
