York is a city in Yorkshire?, in the north of England. The city was known as Eboracum to the Romans, and was a major military base for them. The emperor Septimius Severus died in York in A.D. 211?, and [Constantius Chlorus]?, the father of Constantine I, died there in 306?.

The city's history includes occupation by the Vikings, who called the city 'Jorvik'.
