Yersinia pestis

Yersina pestis is a bacterium; it is the infectious agent of bubonic plague. The bacillus was originally called Pasteurella pestis.

It was discovered simultaneously by Shibasaburo Kitasato and [Alexandre Yersin]? in 1894.
