1. A steel profile making up part of a railway. The profile usually has the form of an inverted 'T', but several other forms also exist. A railway usually consist of two parallell tracks held together by sleeper?s. Tracks are produced in segments which are placed end to end and welded together in order to produce as smooth a surface as possible for the wheels to roll on. The distance between the two rails is known as the gague of the railway.
