Ton

There are three similar units of mass called the ton(ne):

1. the long ton (2240 lb or 1016.047 kg)
2. the short ton (2000 lb or 907.185 kg)
3. the tonne (or metric ton) (1000 kg)

Since all three have the same name, it can sometimes be difficult to tell which unit is being used.
