Thiamin, also known as Vitamin B1 has chemical formula C12H17ON4SCl*HCl

It's colourless, soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol. It decomposes if heated.

Thiamin deficite causes problems with the metabolism of carbohydrates, and causes the deseases of paresis? and Beri-Beri?.

Thiamin is also used, in quantities much higher than natural organism's requirements, as medicine against nerves inflammation.
