In the Philosophy of religion, the belief in God as unitary being. There are three major views of the role of God in the world in this context: the view that God created the world but does not interact with it, called Deism; the view that God is wholly or partly the world, called Pantheism or Panentheism respectively; and proper Theism is the view that God is immanent? in the world, yet transcends? it.

The monotheistic religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, are typically theistic.

More generically, the belief in one or more gods.

Compare: Deism, Atheism, Agnosticism, Pantheism, Panentheism
