Scientific creationism is an attempt to prove Creationism through scientific means. While the large majority of scientists (and many Christians) accept evolution and natural selection as the most likely explanation of speciation, there are a few scientists and nonscientists who do not.

Intelligent Design is one framework for scientific creationism; another is based on Biblical literalism, which means that proof that the universe is young is required. Advances in geology and astronomy in the last 100 years have made this hard. Other scientific approaches to creationism involve poking holes in the fossil record of evolution; this approach has also become more difficult as these holes have been filled in.
