Codename for a
US military operation. The air campaign portion of the
Gulf War. Mostly consisting in air raids using US planes flown from
Saudi Arabia,
Turkey,
Italy and the
Persian Gulf into
Kuwait and
Iraq. It was the follow-up to [Operation Desert Shield]
? which was an air patrol defense mission.
Often used synonymously, but slightly incorrectly, for the entire Gulf War.
