Lindisfarne

The monastery of Lindisfarne was founded by Saint Aidan, who had been sent from Iona to Northumbria? at the request of King Oswald around 635 A.D.

Sacked by the Vikings in 793.

They produced the famous illuminated manuscript, the [Lindisfarne Gospels]?. The Gospels date to the early 700's and an English translation was added between the Latin lines in the 900's.
