A
knot consist of lengths of one or several
ropes, coiled through themselves in a way to produce a structural altering the characteristics of the rope. Knots may be used for fastening ropes to other structures, other ropes, or to let a rope slide along another rope.
Knots are instrumental in sailing and climbing, and many other activities.

- noose
- slip
- bowline
- sheep bend
- square
