The Jedi Knights where an order of warrior priests that followed the "light" side of "The force". They where almost completely wipped out by the actions of followers of the "dark side" of the force, priciply the Seth Lord, Darth Vader.
The main tennets of "The force" is of it being an energy field that surrounds the universe and all things in it. Its principles resonates with a few real world religios coda's (none of which I can remeber right now).
The actions of [Luke Skywalker]? and his relationship with the force where a principle plot deivice in the films.
The religion of "Jedi" has been coded up in several censuses in New Zealand and the UK although it is still someway from being recognised as a religion.
