HyperCard is a simple programming environment designed by
Apple Computer. It uses a "stack" of virtual "cards" as its basic metaphor; cards can be interconnected by
hypertext links (thus the name of the program). Text and graphics can be placed on each card. It can be used as a simple database. The programming language HyperTalk
? comes with the product and can be used to make the stacks do useful and interesting things.
HyperCard is one of the first products that made use of and popularized the hypertext concept to a large popular base of users. After some years of nondevelopment, Apple has in recent years been releasing new versions and upgrades.
