Bündnis '90/Die Grünen (Alliance '90/Green) was the name used in the 1998 parliament elections.
1982 was the first year in which greens were elected to the Bundestag, and in 1998 they entered government as junior partners in a coalition with the Social Democrats, with [Joschka Fischer]? becoming foreign minister.
There have been some criticims of the party since it has come to power that it has abandoned its ideology. For example, when allowing the transport of nuclear waste or encouraging the use of German troops in the 2001 U.S. Attack on Afghanistan.
