Galvanization is the process of electro-plating steel of iron with zinc. This is done to reduce corrosion? (specifically rusting) of the steel or iron item. This works as zinc is more reactive with oxygen than the steel, and is thus preferentially oxidised?, leaving the steel safe until the zinc has all been reacted.
