Fenris was a wolf who was the son of
Loki and the giantess Angerboda. He was grew so large and terrible that the gods were forced to bind him with a magical chain. This cost
Tyr his hand. Fenris will remain bound until
Ragnarok when he will join forces with those opposing Odin and will devour him. Until Ragnarok, three chains tie the dread wolf down:
Loding,
Dromi and
Gleipnr.
Also called Fenris Wolf, Fenrir. Fenris Ulf of C.S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe may be modeled on him.
