Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (

1536) published a critical edition of the Greek New Testament in 1516
? with a Latin translation and annotations and dedicated it to [Pope Leo X]
?. The edition was based on recently discovered additional manuscripts.
His 'Praise of Folly' was dedicated to his friend Sir Thomas More.
The great portraitist [Hans Holbein]? made a profile half-length portrait in 1523, and Albrecht Duerer made an engraving of Erasmus in 1526.
