Emma Goldman (born Lithuania on
June 27,
1869, died
1940) An emigrant to the United States known for her radical
anarchist writing and speeches, she was deported to
Russia in
1919 and spent a number of years in
Britain, where she wrote her autobiography and other works.
In New York city she met and lived with [Alexander Berkman]?, along with whom she was a major leader of the anarchist movement in the United States at the time. Her defence of Berkman's attempted assasination of Henry Clay Frick made her highly unpopular with the authorities, leading to her eventual deportation.
