Daniel "Danny" C. Lewin,
mathematician and entrepeneur. He died at age 31 in the crash of American Airlines Flight 11 in the
September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack. Danny Lewin co-founded [Akamai Technologies]
?, Inc. in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), and board member. At the time of his death, he was a Ph.D. candidate at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He was said to have become a paper-billionaire when Akamai stock first became available.
Lewin was born in Denver and raised in Jerusalem, Israel, where he served as a soldier in Israel's Defense Forces. He was survived by his wife and two sons.
His parents visited him from Israel in the week before his flight.
