Glagolitic alphabet a precursor to Cyrillic

His work was later transmitted by his pupils who made the journey back from Moravia to Bulgaria. Cyril, however, did not invent the alphabet on Bulgarian territory.
Cyril was canonized as a saint by the Orthodox Church and is also called "apostle of the Slavs".
